50/50 – The Soundtrack (of a life)

50/50 – trailer

From an artistic point of view, supervising music for movies and TV series is probably one of the most interesting tasks that a music supervisor can deal with. Indeed, a story is told…
A narrative can be so significant that it gives the music a powerful and dramatic role as to how the story is felt by the viewers. When they can’t get involved in the drama in any other way, it means there is definitely magic happening in the film. [more...]

Iron / Assassin’s Creed

What could be better than directing your music videos yourself when you are keen on applying your music’s own vision on screen…?

Fairly not that easy, isn’t it? …Except if you’re as talented as up-and-coming music artist WoodKID a.k.a. Yoann Lemoine – incidentally a multi-awarded music video/film director as well…

99 Problems

Another clever music placement in a commercial for video games.

What strikes me in that video is the way the music enables to directly address the targeted demographic – 15-35 y/o men – while responding to the video game’s message.

Last Tango In Compton

Advertising has long been acknowledged as one of the most creative sectors of the media industries. In an environment where lateral-thinking prevails, it is of paramount importance to think out-of-the-box.

In this way, there can be countless unthinkable ways for Volkswagen to convey their motto for their new Polo car: Tough, Beautiful, Polo…

Depicting sensual Tango dancers passionately rocking on the dance floor may come to your mind.

Fair enough.

However, what could embody better Toughness AND Beauty at the same time?

The Bear

What primarily seems to be a puzzling movie trailer – or a far-fetched commercial for animal skin rugs, it’s up to you! – turns out to be a witty and irreverent tribute to the contemporary cinema industry.

Highlighting different aspects of film-making and film viewing, Everything is in there: the actors, the director of photography, the score composer, the screenwriters, the digital compositors, and an unexpected director such as it is…

Drive – The Original Soundtrack

‘Drive’ tells the story of a mechanic/Hollywood stuntman and his passion for driving.

Played by rising superstar Ryan Gosling, the hero happened to moonlight as a getaway driver in his spare time…

That’s how the story’s told. Now, categorised as an indie movie, Drive hasn’t been any less successful and turns out to be one of the most popular theater releases of the last quarter 2011.

Praised by critics for the acting, awarded at 2011 Cannes Festival for the directing, what’s worth noting about the film all the more is the original soundtrack.

Graveyard – Hisingen Blues

Some discovered the Swedish Rock band Graveyard at Bonaroo Festival 2011, others have discovered them with this raw and very efficient reference-laden music video for their new album release “Hisingen Blues” (release date: 03/2011).

A Year In New York

Nice video by filmmaker Andrew Clancy that depicts a year in New York from the perspective of a New Yorker, himself.
