As the title says, the clip is a promotional video for the EP release of a Punk/Rock band called The SoundScraperZ.
I worked on that video project as the video editor and the music editor.
The purpose of that video was obviously to promote the band, the EP release, and most importantly the music.
As a music supervisor, the choice of the music was rather obvious. We only used the EP's playlist.
In this way, the music editing was key so as to present the band and their music under the right spot light.
It's a 3 minute video interview. Viewers can easily get bored with dialogue-based content. The most important thing was then to adjust
the way the tracks follow on and to create a continually-changing pace for the interview overall.
For instance, the tracks' order enables to speed up or slow down the interview and therefore to keep the viewers' attention.
As I also worked as the video editor for the project, the editing session was rather flexible and I could easily match both the video and the music the way I wanted.
The Pulled Over project was a college assignment that I carried out while doing my degree in audio production at SAE Institute in 2010.
I worked on the assignment as the project manager; an assignment that consisted in recreating the entire soundtrack of a film (sound design, dialogue and music).
Particularly interested in music supervision, I especially enjoyed the project while working with the composer of the soundtrack - the artist musician and music producer Marcel Saba.
We had to define the right musical approach to support and enrich the characters' emotions, the film's mood, and the actual narrative.
The idea was to develop a music soundtrack mainly based on music score and commercial music.
The score takes inspiration from the Contemporary Music movement of the 20th century to set a tense and disturbing atmosphere all along the narrative. That music genre is known for creating those emotional effects and drawing listeners' attention as well.
The use of commercial music also enabled us to emphasise the current aspect of the actual story, the social conditions of the characters and their evolving moods that occur along the film's plot.
The fact that Marcel Saba had also previously taken part in the production of this commercial tracks as a co-producer and/or performer made the clearing process easier to carry out.
